Carl Pohlad, owner of the Minnesota Twins, and former quarterback Fran Tarkenton are two of the principals in a group of three investors that has bought one-third of the Minnesota Vikings’ stock from club founder and president Max Winter, the Minneapolis Star and Tribune reported.

According to the paper, Winter sold his share to Pohlad, Tarkenton and Minneapolis businessman Irwin Jacobs.

Winter, 81, who lobbied in 1960 to bring professional football to Minnesota, owned one-third of the Vikings’ stock. Winter will remain the NFL club’s president under terms of the agreement.

Pohlad said that if his group ever gained control of the Vikings, he would be interested in buying the Metrodome, where both the Twins and the Vikings play.
