Suspended TCU Star Sues the NFL

Kenneth Davis, star running back from Texas Christian whose bid to turn pro was rejected by the National Football League, sued the NFL Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court. Davis had applied to the NFL after he was suspended by TCU Coach Jim Wacker for accepting money from boosters. Several other football players also were suspended.

Davis is seeking $3 million in general damages and $10 million in punitive damages. He is also seeking a temporary restraining order and a preliminary injunction that would force the NFL to hold a supplemental draft.

Meanwhile, in Fort Worth, an internal investigation into the TCU basketball program has failed to confirm any “substantive” violations, chancellor William E. Tucker said.

That investigation was begun about three weeks ago in the wake of the football scandal.

“We are not on a witch hunt, but we are interested in making certain that all of our intercollegiate athletic programs reflect the university at its best,” Tucker told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
