Parks Tandem Gains U.S. Wheelchair Tennis Final
Brad Parks of Laguna Niguel and Rick Slaughter of Nashville defeated Dave Kiley of Pomona and Chip Parmaley of Diamond Bar, 6-1, 6-4, Friday in a men’s doubles semifinal of the United States National Wheelchair Tennis Championship at the Racquet Club of Irvine.
Parks and Slaughter will play Chip Turner (Carmichael) and Randy Snow (Dallas) in today’s final at 4 p.m. Turner and Snow defeated Dan Lachman (Huntington Beach) and Jim Worth of Brea, 6-1, 6-4.
In womens’ singles, unseeded Chantelle Vandierdonck (Netherlands) defeated No. 2 seed Michelle DeJarlais (Fresno), 6-4, 7-6. Vandierdonck will play No.1 seed Marilyn Hamilton (Fresno), who beat Terry Grey (San Leandro), 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, in the final today at 12.
Men’s singles semifinals are scheduled to start after the women’s final.
