Fullerton : Teacher Representatives Take Up Tentative Pact

Share

Representatives of Fullerton teachers will meet today to decide whether to recommend approval of a tentative contract agreement reached with Fullerton Union High School District officials.

The agreement was reached after an 18-hour session Saturday between representatives of the Fullerton Secondary Teachers Organization and the school district, union President Bill Dunton said.

Under union rules, Dunton said, the agreement must be presented for a vote of the members no later than Friday.

The teachers, who have been working without a contract since July, declared an impasse in September because negotiators could not resolve a dispute over salaries and working conditions, said Gregory Bice, assistant superintendent in charge of personnel. Since then, both sides have been meeting with a state-appointed mediator.

“There were a lot of issues that were important for both sides and it has been time-consuming,” Bice said.
