Poultry distributor Harry Priester, 63, won dismissal of a civil breach of contract suit filed against him by Arcadia horse breeder Janet Maynard, 36, who claimed he promised to support her for life, give her $40,000, buy her a ranch and divorce his wife to marry her. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charles E. Jones dismissed the case because Maynard failed to bring it to trial within the required five years. The suit was one of the first in California to try to establish “palimony” rights for lovers who did not live together. Maynard’s attorneys said they plan to appeal.
