Work Started on San Diego Shelter for Street People
Work is under way on the $6-million St. Vincent de Paul Emergency Center in San Diego which upon completion in March, 1987, will provide shelter for the homeless.
The three-story, mission-style structure at 15th Avenue and Imperial Street, is designed to accommodate 350 persons overnight, provide 1,300 meals daily, as well as shower and laundry facilities, medical clinic, counseling offices, chapel and school. It will contain subterranean parking for 114 vehicles.
The Kvaas Construction Co. Inc. is the contractor, architects are the San Diego-based Krommenhoek/McKeown & Associates. Burkett & Wong are the structural engineers.
