L. A. Beautiful Honors 29 With Awards
Los Angeles Beautiful has honored 28 firms and one individual. The citations were presented at the group’s annual Business and Industry Awards luncheon at the Sheraton Grande hotel.
The winning firms, ranging from an Eagle Rock car wash to a major bank branch in Anaheim, were selected from more than 200 that had been nominated throughout the Los Angeles Basin.
Additionally, Rodney Hood, vice president emeritus of Atlantic Richfield Co., received the Valley Knudsen Award for “exceptional service and significant contributions to the improvement of the environmental quality of our Southern California community.”
Valley Knudsen founded Los Angeles Beautiful 36 years ago. Hood has served Los Angeles Beautiful since 1954 when then-Richfield Oil supported the group’s program of planting street trees downtown.
Forty volunteer judges selected the winners on such criteria as the use of color in landscaping, blending of plants with architecture, effect of the improvement on the neighboring community and screening of parking areas.
