The 162 yards by Holieway, who played less than three quarters, is the most ever by an Oklahoma freshman quarterback. It broke the record of 135 set a week ago by Eric Mitchel.

Holieway averaged more than eight yards per carry and also threw for 82 yards and a touchdown.

Oklahoma trailed, 3-0, early but broke the game open with 20 straight second-quarter points.

Oklahoma improved to 5-1 overall, 3-0 in the conference. The loss dropped Kansas to 5-4 and 1-3.

Oklahoma St. 14, Colorado 11--In two previous games, Thurman Thomas, hobbled by a nagging ankle injury, had failed to top 100 yards. Still, the Oklahoma State tailback came to Boulder, Colo., as the nation’s fourth-leading rusher.

The Cowboys’ sophomore rushed for 201 yards and scored on a 1-yard run in the second quarter and a 60-yard run in the third quarter.
