Police Seek Hit-Run Killer of Motorcyclist
Police on Sunday were looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a 47-year-old Tarzana man who had stopped in front of a hospital to repair his motorcycle.
Los Angeles Police Sgt. Ken Staggs said the incident occurred Saturday morning on Vanowen Street in front of Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys. The motorcyclist had stopped in a no-parking zone and dismounted. He was then was hit by a car, which then sped away, Staggs said.
Members of the hospital’s emergency-room staff carried the victim into the hospital for treatment of massive head injuries, Staggs said, but the man died a few minutes later. The victim’s name was being withheld until relatives could be notified.
Police said the one witness to the incident could only describe the car as maroon.
