Missing Man Identified as Victim of Slaying

The body of a man found in a shallow grave near Bear Valley Road in the Buckman Springs area Oct. 26 has been identified as Michael Messier, 31, of La Mesa, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday.
Messier, killed by a gunshot to the head, was identified through dental records and his clothing, a sheriff’s spokesman said. Messier had been missing since February.
Messier’s last known address was in the 4800 block of Jesse Street in La Mesa, deputies said.
Investigators said they have no suspects in the killing.
