Padres Appoint Bowa as Manager at Las Vegas
The San Diego Padres have hired veteran shortstop Larry Bowa to manage their Class AAA farm team in Las Vegas, it was reported Thursday.
Bowa will succeed Bob Cluck, who managed the Stars for two years before being fired by the Padres.
Bowa spent 16 years in the major leagues, finishing last season with the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets. He spent 12 years with the Philadelphia Phillies.
Bowa has a career batting average of .259 and holds the National League record for games played by a shortstop with 2,239.
