Anaheim : Redevelopment Funds Earmarked for Museum
The planned Anaheim Museum, in the works for about eight years, “is finally off the ground,” its director said Tuesday after city approval of restoration of the museum’s future home: the old Carnegie Library.
City Council members agreed to use redevelopment money to finance a face lift for the 77-year-old building. Once the library at Anaheim Boulevard and Broadway is renovated, the museum can lease it from the city and open within the year, said Herbert Pruett, director of Anaheim Museum Inc.
The museum has already collected about $300,000 in donations, Pruett said. Another $410,000 will be needed for the renovation, said Lisa Stipkovich, Anaheim community development assistant executive director. The city already has applied for a $300,000 state grant, she said.
