British runner Zola Budd weathered a cold, gray morning and a handful of protesters to win the 10-kilometer Rosemont Turkey Trot at Rosemont, Ill.
Mark Nenow of Lexington, Ky., won the men’s title, setting a course record of 28:35.
Budd, 19, a native of South Africa and now a British subject, held her lead consistently and crossed the finish line in 32:29.
Budd, known for running barefoot, wore shoes in the 19-degree chill. She said afterward she was bothered by the cold weather and was stiff and sore by the end of the race.
