Ex-Vanderbilt Strength Coach Gets Probation for Dispensing Steroids
E.J. (Doc) Kreis, the former strength coach at Vanderbilt University, was sentenced to one year’s probation Wednesday for distributing muscle-building steroids.
Kreis was charged with participating in a scheme to distribute 97,000 doses of steroids and other prescription drugs to athletes at three universities.
He agreed to plead guilty to only one count of selling steroids to Sam Colson, former strength coach at Clemson University.
Circuit Judge Bobby Capers gave Kreis a year of unsupervised probation.
Investigators said most of the 97,000 doses of steroids went to athletes who gathered at “Doc’s Body Shop,” the Vanderbilt weight room, but 5,000 to 6,000 doses went to Clemson and about 1,700 doses went to Colgate.
