Backers of a concert designed to raise funds for victims of the earthquakes in Mexico say they are undaunted by a rain-out last Sunday and will press on with plans to hold the show in a few months.

Although no definite plans have been set, organizer Cathy O’Campo said Friday that it’s hoped the “Mexico, We have Not Forgotten You” concert can be held sometime in early February. She added that an indoor location will be sought to avoid another rain-out, with Santa Ana Valley High School as a possible site.

About two dozen hardy souls braved the rain last Sunday at Santa Ana Stadium before the show was canceled. O’Campo said several of the groups who were to donate their performances last Sunday will try to be on hand for the February show, including Tierra, the Coasters and the Drifters. Additionally, attempts will be made to include performers who couldn’t make it last Sunday, such as the rock group War and vocalist Appolonia.

“We’ll be basically starting from scratch,” she said, adding that tickets to the first show will be honored at the second. She said organizers had hoped to raise as much as $80,000 for the American Red Cross’s relief effort.
