Vivid Dancer Pulls Away to Win by Six Lengths
Vivid Dancer, ridden by Alex Solis, lagged badly in the early going but made up ground and pulled away down the stretch to easily win the $22,000 feature race Friday at Hollywood Park.
Vivid Dancer finished six lengths in front of My Virginia Reel, ridden by Chris McCarron. Natalie Knows, with Ray Sibile aboard, was another 1-1/4 lengths back in the race for fillies and mares. The winner ran the mile in 1:35 1/5.
Sent off the 3-1 second choice by 13,945 fans, Vivid Dancer paid $8, $3.20 and $2.40. Natalie Knows returned $3 to show.
In the third race, Bill Shoemaker, the world’s winningest jockey, scored the 8,500th victory of his career aboard Ontheemis.
