A man whose wife died in their burning Pasadena motel room Sunday night was arrested Monday on suspicion of murder. Richard A. Johnson, 39, who suffered only minor burns and tried to help firefighters put out the blaze at the Capri Motel on Lincoln Avenue, was arrested after he was interrogated by detectives, Pasadena Police Lt. Bob Montoya said. The body of Mildred Johnson, 31, was found in the fire-gutted motel room that the couple had shared for the last month. No one else was injured, Montoya said. The fire was limited to the Johnsons’ room and caused about $10,000 damage.
