Ivan Lendl has been suspended for 42 days for exceeding the allowable amount of fines during a year, it was announced Monday by the Men’s International Professional Tennis Council. The suspension will be reduced to 21 days if Lendl does not play in any professional tournament or event during those three weeks.

Lendl went over the $7,500 limit for a 12-month period during the just-concluded Australian Open when he was fined on three occasions: $1,000 for a dress and equipment violation, $500 for an audible obscenity and $350 for ball abuse.
