An Ocean Beach man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of murder in the death last month of a pregnant 22-year-old woman who was thrown from the side of a car that drove off while she was hanging on, police reported.
Hugh G. Crowley, 31, was arrested after his car was stopped by the California Highway Patrol, said San Diego police spokesman Bill Robinson. Robinson said Audrea L. Scott was seen talking to the driver and the two passengers of a car at 32nd and F streets on Nov. 29. Witnesses told police of hearing a sudden squeal of tires and seeing the driver swerve several times in an attempt to dislodge Scott, who fell to the street two blocks away on Market Street.
Scott died of her injuries Nov. 30 at UC San Diego Medical Center.
