Lopez Knocks Out Mulholland in First Round
Rigo Lopez of San Diego knocked out Dennis Mulholland of Bakersfield at 2:47 of the first round in their scheduled 10-round welterweight bout Thursday night at the Kern County Fairgrounds.
The heavily favored Mulholland, 146, the World Athletic Assn. welterweight champion whose title was not at stake, was floored by a short right cross 30 seconds into the fight by the undefeated Lopez, 149.
Mulholland’s record fell to 17-2, while Lopez’s improved to 11-0 with nine knockouts.
