Confusion Over Car-Pool Lanes

Share

I am becoming very confused and am sure there are a lot of other people that drive the Costa Mesa Freeway on a daily basis that are also confused over the new “car-pool lane” as to what it is accomplishing for the betterment of all that drive that freeway.

One never knows what to expect as to the traffic flow. I enter the freeway about the same time each weekday morning. Driving the 12-mile stretch some mornings takes me 15 to 18 minutes. Other days, more often than not, it is back to the old three-lane traffic days, taking from 45 minutes to over an hour.

I now do not know when to leave the house. I cannot judge within 20 to 30 minutes as to driving time from home to office. It is like a car that sometimes starts and sometimes does not. It is irritating and confusing.

In view of this, I am starting a “55 Freeway Committee” of drivers that drive this freeway daily and would appreciate calls at (714) 559-5958, so that in the remaining 70 days or so of the Caltrans experiment the “daily” drivers of the Costa Mesa Freeway will be able to have input as to the future use of this freeway.
