Alhambra : School District Anniversary
The 100th anniversary of the founding of the Alhambra School District will be celebrated with a series of events beginning with the raising of centennial flags at Alhambra schools on Feb. 24. Other events will include the installation of a memorial plaque and the planting of a tree at the district administration building Feb. 27, a community reception March 14 and school picnics in May. The school district was established in 1886 when a school was opened above a livery stable on Chapel Street.
