Don Coryell will return in 1986 for a ninth season as coach of the San Diego Chargers (8-7 so far this season), according to National Football League sources, who said that Charger owner Alex Spanos has decided to honor the final year of the 61-year-old Coryell’s contract.
Spanos wouldn’t comment on the report but said he would make an announcement Monday.
