San Juan Capistrano : Firefighters to Practice on Burning Structure
- Share via
An empty, boarded-up snack bar in San Juan Capistrano will be set on fire today and again Sunday and Monday.
The building at 32002 Del Obispo St. was going to be razed anyway, and destroying it by fire will give Orange County firefighters a chance to sharpen their skills by putting out the blaze three times.
The building will be torched “in order to better train our officers and firefighters in the latest fire behavior and fire attack techniques under realistic conditions,” said James P. Stone, division chief of the county Fire Department.
The burnings will be conducted between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. under strict security, and the public is invited to witness the exercise.
