Chaminade High had to call all over California to stock its basketball tournament with the best high school teams available.

But if it wanted a star, one that would stand out above the rest, it needed to look no farther than a few miles down the road at Cleveland. Cavalier center Trevor Wilson has been turning the 16-team tournament into a personal showcase.

Friday night at Chaminade, the 6-8 senior scored 32 points, including a game-winning 12-footer with three seconds left, to give Cleveland a 76-75 victory over Serra in the championship quarterfinals. Wilson scored 46 points in the Cavaliers’ first-round win over Calabasas.

Wilson scored 18 points in the first half, but ran cold in the third quarter, missing all five of his shots. He came on to score 14 in the fourth quarter, however, hitting 5 of 9 shots.

“In the clutch, the good shooters come through. I guess that’s what I did tonight,” Wilson said.

He finished 12 of 29 from the field and had 11 rebounds.

James Moses, a sophomore transfer from Alemany, had 17 points for Serra, and teammate Keith Malone added 27.
