A California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer is in critical condition at Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital after being struck by a hit-and-run driver at a South Los Angeles intersection. Police and hospital officials are not releasing the name of the officer, who was injured at Manchester Avenue and Broadway, Officer Janet Engler said. Police are looking for a grass- or emerald-colored 1968 or 1969 Chevrolet, possibly an Impala, the officer said. The injured officer is in the intensive care ward, a hospital spokesman said.
