When big brother talks, Jamie Morris listens--especially when big brother is Joe Morris of the New York Giants.

The Michigan tailback, who rushed for 156 yards to pace Michigan to its Fiesta Bowl victory over Nebraska, said his performance was inspired by a pregame talk with his older brother.

“He said just go out there and run like a man possessed,” Jamie Morris said.

The 5-foot 6-inch, 175-pound sophomore did just that. He carried the ball 26 times and bested the Cornhuskers’ highly touted running back, Doug DuBose, by 57 yards.

Michigan Coach Bo Schembechler said he talked to Morris about his brother’s strong performance in last Sunday’s NFL playoff win over San Francisco.

“I chided him before the game that his big brother could get 140-plus yards in a playoff game,” Schembechler said, “and he should do the same for us.”

He did that and more.
