Motorist Who Struck Delivery Truck Dies

A North Hollywood man has died from injuries received when his car swerved into a water delivery truck on Topanga Canyon Boulevard, just south of the Simi Valley Freeway, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.
Douglas Nankivell, 32, who sustained massive chest and abdominal injuries, was pronounced dead at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills, said Officer Bill Smith. Nankivell had been airlifted to the hospital from the accident several hours before.
Investigators have not determined what caused the car to swerve into the other lane.
