AND HERE’S THE NEWS: If you think it used to get crowded at some of the recording sessions over at the Record Plant, wait ‘till you see how many people show up when Joe Jackson cuts his new album next week in New York. And no wonder, because Jackson is doing the entire album live, in a series of five concert performances spread across three nights, beginning Thursday at the Roundabout Theatre in Gramercy Park. The album, tentatively titled “Big World” and slated to include nearly a dozen new songs, will be recorded direct to two-track master at the theater, without any overdubs or re-mixes. Co-produced by Jackson and David Kershenbaum, it is expected to be in the stores by early April on A&M; Records. . . .

If you’re wondering what happened to Island/Alive’s long-awaited Go-Go movie, “Good to Go,” keep those dancing shoes spiffed up. The film, originally slated for release last summer, then scheduled for December, has been pushed back again, this time until March. . . .

And from our Truth in Advertising Dept.: The new Trouble Funk album, which graced several critic Top 10 lists last month, isn’t all that new. As several Go-Go connoisseurs have pointed out, the record is merely a re-release of the live sides of “In Times of Trouble,” a 1983 Trouble Funk double album originally issued on TEDD Records. (Naturally, Island Records failed to mention this anywhere on its current package.)
