A 55-year-old Santee man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of selling illegal slot machines, officials said.
Ed Bennett was booked on suspicion of possessing illegal slot machines after a two-month investigation by police and San Diego County Sheriff’s Department undercover officers of his business, called Slots-In-Things. Officers seized 16 slot machines from the Santee firm. State law prevents the possession of slot machines manufactured after 1956.
Bennett had been selling the slots--similar to the one-armed bandits used in Las Vegas--for $600 to $1,000 apiece, police said. Most of the customers were private individuals and not businesses, police said.
