Aman charged with robbing more than a dozen convenience stores and fast-food restaurants in Burbank, Glendale and North Hollywood during a one-week period late last year was ordered Wednesday to stand trial on 13 robbery counts.

San Fernando Municipal Judge James E. Satt dismissed one robbery count against James Neihart, 26, because a witness was not available to testify, Deputy Dist. Atty. Pam Gelman said.

Daniel Baker, 27, charged with three counts of robbery for allegedly driving the getaway car in three of the robberies, also was ordered to stand trial, a court clerk said. The two men, both of Sun Valley, will be arraigned Feb. 12 in San Fernando Superior Court.

Gelman said Neihart used a toy gun when he robbed the stores and restaurants between Nov. 27 and Dec. 4. Baker is charged with driving Neihart to robberies in Burbank and Glendale on Dec. 3, she said.

No one was injured in the holdups, Gelman said.

Neihart’s attorney, Mark Clark, said his client has a distinctive tattoo near the thumb of his left hand and several tattoos on his arms. None of the victims mentioned tattoos to the police, he said.

Besides, Clark said, several witnesses told police immediately after the holdups that the robber was 40 to 50 years old.
