Tom Koch Wins Parker 400 Off-Road Race
Tom Koch overcame a broken gearshift to win the SCORE Parker 400 off-road race Saturday by five minutes.
Koch, 37, of Ridgecrest, Calif., averaged 60.77 m.p.h. over the 317.38-mile distance in a Raceco-Porsche to win the year’s first major off-road race in an elapsed time of 5 hours 12 minutes 54.6 seconds over a record number of 415 starters.
Overall motorcycle winners were Dan Smith of Visalia, Calif., and Dan Ashcraft of Huntington Beach. They finished in 5:12:54.6 on a Husqvarna machine.
