Local News in Brief : Bank-Holdups Suspect Seized After FBI Chase
A Pacoima man suspected of robbing seven banks in the Los Angeles area in the last year was arrested by FBI agents Monday when he crashed his car into a parked car after a high-speed chase near his home, officials said.
The man, Carl Joseph Anthony, 40, was arrested about 2 p.m. after he fled from agents who were serving a search warrant at his home in the 13200 block of Paxton Street, FBI spokesman Jim Neilson said.
Anthony, who was not injured in the crash in the 13300 block of Cornelius Street, is suspected of committing a string of bank robberies, the latest being on Jan. 21 at a Great Western Savings & Loan Assn. in Van Nuys, Neilson said.
Anthony is scheduled to be arraigned today on several counts of bank robbery, Neilson said.
