Suspect Arrested in Bank Robbery; Money Recovered

A Huntington Beach police officer Tuesday arrested a suspect and recovered $3,625 believed taken only minutes earlier in a bank robbery, police said.
Lt. Jack Reynolds said a man who demanded cash from a teller at a Security Pacific National Bank branch at 5812 Edinger Ave. fled with the money in a paper bag. But within minutes, Detective Richard Butcher, who was in the area and heard the robbery report, arrested Gerald Lee Prince, 36, of Huntington Beach, who was driving in a residential area behind the bank, police said.
Though Prince was not injured in the arrest, he was transferred to Orange County Jail’s hospital ward because he said he is epileptic, Reynolds said.
