One hundred Los Angeles police officers arrested 20 gang members--including the suspected teen-age triggerman in the dance hall slaying of a 16-year-old University High School student--in a series of coordinated raids early today in South-Central Los Angeles and neighboring Inglewood. Sgt. James May, of the Police Department’s Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums (CRASH) unit, said police confiscated 20 handguns, shotguns and rifles and a quantity of heroin and cocaine at the 14 different locations they hit. There was only minor resistance and no injuries were reported.

May said 10 of the suspects will be booked on suspicion of murder, the others on counts ranging from assault with a deadly weapon and drug possession to failure to appear on traffic warrants.

Among the suspects, May said, was a 15-year-old who police believe forced his way into a South-Central dance hall with nine other street gang members on Feb. 2 and shot and killed Terrell Duggan.
