Disneyland Official to Be Honored as Americana Woman of the Year

Mary B. Jones, manager of community affairs for Disneyland and chief of protocol for Orange County, will be honored as the Americana Woman of the Year at the 11th anniversary Americana Awards Dinner Feb. 22 at Cypress College.

The awards program and dancing will follow a reception at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 in the Grand Ballroom.

Jones, who joined Disneyland’s public relations staff in 1962, will be honored for her philanthropic and community service. She has served on boards and committees of numerous clubs and organizations addressing youth, cultural, civic and health needs. In 1985, as a loaned executive from Disneyland, she established the Office of Protocol for the county.

Other community honorees who will be recognized for outstanding service to their respective cities are:

Stan and Theresa Pawlowski of Anaheim, Edith Rehnborg of Buena Park, Hilliard Warren of Cypress, Fran Jennings-Rafanovic of Garden Grove, Sharon Gutjahr of La Palma, Margrit Kendrick of Los Alamitos and Cliff Ronnenberg of Stanton.

Orange County Supervisor Ralph B. Clark and Herb Leo are co-chairmen of the 1986 program. At a kick-off party held at Disneyland’s Club 33, Leo announced that this year’s goal is to raise $60,000 through the awards dinner. The proceeds will be used to refurbish the science labs at Cypress College.

Tickets for the dinner, dancing and awards program are $100 a person or $1,000 a table. Black tie is optional.

Past recipients of the Americana Awards include Gene Autry, Edgar Bergen, Marion Knott, Rudy Vallee, Buddy Ebsen, Mildred Vessels, Carl Karcher, Don Karcher, Roy Campanella, Dr. Sammy Lee and John Raitt.
