East San Diego Man Dies of Gunshot Wound
San Diego police are investigating the shooting death early Friday morning of an East San Diego man.
Police responding to a neighbor’s emergency call shortly after 3 a.m. found Louis Edward Goree, 19, of 46th Street, on the living room floor of a house he was visiting in the 4000 block of 50th Street, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
Goree was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen at 3:53 a.m., said Calvin Vine, a deputy coroner.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting were unclear, Robinson said.
Police have a lead on the assailant, but had made no arrests by Friday night, he said.
