An Altadena man shot and killed his estranged wife at a neighbor’s home and barricaded himself inside for six hours before he was wounded while pointing a handgun at Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies, authorities said. Larry Miller, 40, was wounded by two shotgun blasts fired by SWAT team members and was in serious condition at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, Deputy Rick Adams said. Miller’s wife, Maria, 42, was found dead in the living room of the home. She had been shot several times, Adams said. Deputies had gone to the Miller home in the 700 block of East Poppyfields Drive after Mrs. Miller reported having a dispute with her husband. She left the house and spent the night at the neighbor’s, Adams said. Miller later went to the neighbor’s home armed with a handgun. “He shot her twice while in the living room while the two residents were present,” Adams said. “They began running and heard several other shots.” The neighbors called deputies.
