WCAC Roundup : San Diego Beats Gaels, 70-61

Scott Thompson scored 17 points, and Mark Bostic added 16 Saturday night to lift the University of San Diego to a 70-61 West Coast Athletic Conference victory over St. Mary’s at San Diego.

The Toreros (15-8 overall and 5-4 in the WCAC) trailed at halftime, 33-26, but scored the first seven points of the second half to pull even.

Paul Robertson scored 20 points for the Gaels (9-13, 2-7), and Keith Martin added 14.

Santa Clara 67, USF 57--Steve Kenilvort scored 21 points, and the Broncos won their third straight game by turning back the Dons at Moraga, Calif.

The Broncos (9-14, 4-5) took the lead for good, 53-52, when center Dan Weiss sank two free throws with 4:14 left.

Ken Ramirez scored 14 points for USF (7-16, 2-8).

Gonzaga 63, Portland 62 (OT)--Reserve forward Nick Zaharias scored 6 of his 10 points in overtime to lead the Bulldogs (11-12, 4-5) to victory over the Pilots (12-11, 3-6) at Spokane, Wash.
