Two Shot Aiming at Same Pheasant
Two men suffered gunshot wounds when two groups of hunters started shooting at the same pheasant at a hunting club.
Emmett Bernard McCarthy, 67, of Brea and Thomas Joseph Janowicz, 21, of Whittier were treated for minor gunshot wounds at Mission Valley Medical Center in Lake Elsinore, a Riverside County sheriff’s spokeswoman said Monday.
The men were hunting at the Winchester Pheasant Club in Menifee Valley, she said, when “a bird suddenly emerged in the hunting area between two groups of hunters” and the pair apparently were caught in the cross fire.
McCarthy suffered pellet wounds to his head, Janowicz to his cheek, neck, head and arm, the spokeswoman said. Both were treated and released.
