Share

U.S. Olympic volleyball gold medalist Dusty Dvorak will head the city’s 20th annual Patriot’s Day Parade in a one-mile march to City Hall next Saturday.

Now a member of the U.S. National Volleyball Team, Dvorak will lead the parade from Laguna Beach High School, where he played on the volleyball and basketball teams. Dvorak also played these sports at USC, where he graduated with a business degree.

More than 100 parade entries will step off at 11 a.m. from the high school and make the trek down Park Avenue, right on Glenneyre Street, right on Forest Avenue and end at Laguna Beach City Hall.

Past grand marshals for the event have included 1968 Olympic decathlon winner Bill Toomey, Mickey Mouse and Marion Knott of Knott’s Berry Farm. Having the 1984 gold medal winner as grand marshal “will bring people out,” parade association member Sandi Werthe predicted.
