A suit was filed to block two soft-drink mergers.

A class-action lawsuit filed by three individuals on behalf of themselves and other soft-drink consumers seeks an injunction to block Coca-Cola from buying Dr Pepper and to prevent Pepsico from acquiring Seven-Up Co. The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago, contends that the acquisitions would violate antitrust laws by reducing competition, which could result in soft-drink price increases. The proposed acquisitions are subject to federal antitrust review.
