Lynwood : Acting Director Gets Post

Vicente Mas, 46, acting community development director for the city since November, has been appointed director.
Mas had been acting director since Patrick Importuna resigned as director and became director of economic development for the City of Garden Grove.
Mas was appointed permanent director last week by the City Council.
Mas has worked for the city for more than four years and was a senior planner before assuming Importuna’s duties.
As director, Mas is responsible for four city divisions, including community development, planning, building and safety and redevelopment. His annual salary is approximately $44,000.
A naturalized citizen, Mas was born in Valencia, Spain. He has an associate degree in architecture from Technical Instructional School in Caracas, Venezuela, and a bachelor of arts degree in urban geography and planning from Columbia University in New York City. He has also done graduate work in urban planning at the University of Oregon in Eugene.
Mas is married and has two children. He lives in Laguna Beach.
