Top-Seeded Muir Girls Face Compton Tonight in Playoff Semifinal

The Pasadena Muir High School girls’ basketball team will play host to Compton tonight at 7:30 in the semifinal round of the Southern Section 4-A playoffs. Muir (27-0), USA Today’s top-ranked team in the country and the top-seeded team in the 4-A, lost to Compton (21-5) in last season’s 4-A final.

In the other 4-A game, Long Beach Millikan (24-3) is at No. 2-seeded Ventura Buena (25-0). In the 3-A semifinals, Brea-Olinda (24-3) is at Anaheim Esperanza (20-5), and Anaheim Katella (21-3) is at defending champion Tustin Foothill (26-1).

In the 2-A, Chino (25-1) plays at La Puente (19-5), and La Quinta of Westminster, which upset second-seeded La Habra, 52-38, Wednesday, is at Lompoc.

Cerritos Valley Christian (25-2), the defending 1-A champion, plays host to Mojave (22-2). In the Small Schools division, Beaumont (17-8), which qualified as a wild-card entry, plays host to No. 1-seeded Yucca Valley.
