“The Animal Alphabet.” Karl-Lorimar. $19.95. A melding of lyrics and music by Broadway’s Elizabeth Swados and nature films from National Geographic seems promising. The mostly folky/traditional music is fun and onomatopoeic-- C for Camel gets a rappy chant, P for Penguin is scatty and jazz-cool. But if this is supposed to teach kids their ABCs, forget it. With each letter visible for less than three seconds before they roll the basic animal footage, junior would learn more from a good bowl of soup. “Sesame Street” is more educational--and free. 1/2
