Gordon Stacer of Norwalk High and Lyndon Campbell of Santa Fe won state CIF wrestling championships in San Jose last weekend. Stacer (141 pounds) was declared champion when his opponent, Larry Baker of Cupertino, was forced to withdraw with a knee injury. Campbell decisioned Robert Taberez of Calexico, 8-2, to win the 122-pound title. 49er Assistant to Leave?

Cal State Long Beach defensive coordinator Ken Visser is one of three finalists for head football coach at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa. Visser, 39, has been at Cal State Long Beach for seven seasons. The other finalists are Huntington Beach Edison Coach Bill Workman and Rancho Santiago Community College (Santa Ana) defensive coordinator Ben Rapp. OCC officials said a final decision would be announced Friday morning. Here are the pairing for the men’s state community college basketball tournament, which begins this afternoon at Cerritos College: 3 p.m.--Pasadena (23-9) vs. Sacramento (24-7); 5 p.m.--Contra Costa (28-6) vs. Santa Barbara (20-10); 7 p.m.--L.A. Southwest (28-4) vs. Skyline (24-6); 9 p.m.--L.A. Harbor (21-11) vs. City College of San Francisco (29-2). The championship game will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Section Basketball Titles

The Whitney High boys and Lynwood High girls basketball teams won Southern Section titles last weekend. Whitney won its first Small Schools Division title, 76-58, over Bel Air Prep. Lynwood upset the nation’s No. 1 team, Muir, 54-52 in overtime, for the 4-A crown.
