Ranger Chosen for Trabuco District of Cleveland Forest

cy T. Curriden has been named district ranger for the Cleveland National Forest’s Trabuco District, the 161,633-acre reserve straddling the Orange-Riverside county line in the chapparal-covered Santa Ana Mountains.

Curriden, 37, of San Bernardino is the first woman to hold the post of district ranger in Cleveland National Forest, according to Bill Pidanick, a spokesman for the U.S. Forest Service.

A seven-year veteran of the Forest Service, Curriden takes responsibility for resource management, fire protection, recreation and other programs in the Trabuco District, which encompasses the Santa Ana Mountain range from Sierra Peak, between Anaheim Hills and Corona, south to Camp Pendleton in San Diego County.

She has served as archeologist for the Angeles, San Bernardino and Cleveland national forests and supervisory archeologist for the Arizona State Museum and for the National Park Service, Pidanick said. Most recently, Curriden was involved in resource management and recreation programs in the San Bernardino National Forest, where she served as lands and resource officer.

She replaces Wayne Eddy, who was promoted to the district ranger’s post in the Shasta Lake Ranger District of Shasta-Trinity National Forest in Northern California. The Trabuco District is headquartered in Corona.
