SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — An arbitrator ruled Thursday that the San Francisco Giants can insert a drug-testing clause into the contract of free-agent infielder Joel Youngblood.
Youngblood, used mainly as a right-handed pinch-hitter, batted .270 with four homers and 24 runs batted in with the Giants in 95 games last year. He will join the club immediately.
