A Navy man was killed Friday afternoon when his motorcycle crashed head-on into another car as he attempted to pass traffic on California 94, east of Rancho San Miguel Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP said Daniel Fitzwilliams, 24, was traveling east on Highway 94 at about 70 m.p.h. when he crossed the center line to pass traffic and collided with a car driven by Donna Colson, 37, of Jamul.
Fitzwilliams, stationed on the frigate Barbey, was pronounced dead at the scene. Colson was taken to Mercy Hospital, where she was reported in good condition Saturday.
