Gonzalez Breaks Home Run Record in Win

Ruben Gonzalez had two home runs to break the Rancho Santiago College career homer record of 15 held by Ed Amelung as the Dons beat Santa Barbara, 16-3, in the first round of the West Los Angeles College tournament Monday.

The homers gave Gonzalez a total of 17 in his community college career. He also had five RBIs Monday and teammate Bob Brucato went 2 for 4. Mike Sanders (2-0) was the winning pitcher. The Dons (13-4) play Ventura today at 2 p.m. at Culver City High.
